The Root Canal Procedure
Root Canal Treatment actually helps to relieve pain by clearing the infection in the tooth pulp. During the root canal procedure, the diseased pulp tissue and nerves are removed by making a hole in the tooth. Along with oral medication, the root canal is also treated with medication to help get rid of germs and control infection, that may spread beyond the tooth.
After the healing of the root canal, it is filled with a bio-compatible material called gutta percha and the tooth is sealed to prevent any further bacteria from getting into the tooth. Finally, a porcelain crown is placed over the tooth, to provide strength to the tooth for chewing.
